Your Inner (Wo)Man
Some of you are like me…you say what you’re thinking. But, many of you aren’t. You keep a LOT inside.
It’s our personality. It’s our life experiences. It’s our maturity level.
We’re all aware, though, that we have an outer life and an inner life.
Our outer life is what people can perceive; our outer adornment, our facial expressions, the words we say, the things we do.
But, our inner life is ours alone…or is it? We may think that our thoughts are private; that no one knows what we’re thinking. And for the most part, that is true.
But, God…
for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. 1 Sam 16:7 (KJV)
Now I don’t know about you, but I find this sometimes a comfort…and sometimes a fear.
God doesn’t look at us the same way others do. God is concerned with what is on the inside because what’s in will come out.
For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. Luke 6:45b (NKJV)
Whatever you’re thinking in your heart will eventually come out in some way…either in the words that you say, or in your actions. The secret life of the inner man…that’s where God wants to work.
Take some time today and listen to what God hears.

This is a good reminder that we need to be continually transforming our mind with God’s word and consecrating our thought life. Thanks for the challenging thoughts.

I feel the same way about blogging. As careful as we are in our speech to one another, we should be just as careful about what we blog. I see far too many ‘Christian’ women who blog about things they shouldn’t even be thinking about.

Very good post. So true. The inner man is what really matters. That’s what it’s all about! I came here from Robin Sampson’s blog. She said your posts were always uplifting. Well, this one was sure inspiring!

I have been dealing with this myself. I am naturally a quiet person who doesn’t say out loud everything that is on my mind. Reading your post has reminded me that If it isn’t fit to be said out loud then I don’t need to be thinking about it.
